Design

The Rock Island Arsenal (US government owned) designed this tank to share components with the M2 Light Tank to help with standardization.

Several alternate forms were built before a standard was set.

Production

  • T5: 15
    • Manufacturer: Rock Island Arsenal

Variants

  • T5: Had a single 37 mm gun. It fired a 1.91 lb round at a muzzle velocity of 2,600'/sec.
  • T5E1 Phase I: Had 2 37 mm guns. The 37 mm guns were short.
  • T5E2: Had a 75 mm pack howitzer which was hull mounted.
  • T5 Phase III: Was the original pilot model, and had a larger engine and wider tracks.
