Design

J. Cunningham Sons & Co built it based on a design form the Ordnance Department. Almost entered service but the M2 was produced.

It had 4 2-wheel bogies on each side.

Production

  • T5: 17
    • Production: 1934
    • Manufacturer: Rock Island Arsenal
  • T5E1:
    • Production: 1935
    • Manufacturer: Rock Island Arsenal

Variants

  • T1E6: Thicker armor and a La France 240 hp engine.
  • T5: The Rock Island Arsenal built a prototype in 1934. The .50 cal MG had a muzzle velocity of 2,900'/sec. and the .30 cal 2,800'/sec.
  • T5E1: The concept of the vehicle was to be able to shoot down all 4 directions at a crossroad. The muzzle velocity of the MGs are 2,900'/sec.
  • T5E2: Had a 75 mm howitzer and 6 MGs installed.
