Japan's Type 95 Heavy Tank

Design

Prototype was completed in February 1927 and was initially called Prototype No. 1. Some modifications were made and it became the Type 95. The weight was reduced and the engine power was increased.

Due to the Type 95 being expensive to produce it was not widely used.

Prototype

The prototype was completed in April 1930 and trials were conducted. These resulted in the weight being reduced to 16 tons. The main armament was increased from 57 mm to 70 mm.

A second prototype, Prototype 91 Heavy Tank, was constructed, starting in March 1932.
