Design

The Ruler class was built by the United States and transferred to the Royal Navy. The Ameer class were similar to the Attacker class.

Usage

Most of the escort carriers were based out of Greenock.

In 1943 - 1944 four were with the Mediterranean Fleet.

In 1944 five were with the Eastern Fleet.

In 1945 six were with the Home Fleet.

In 1945 there were initially twelve, later increased to sixteen, in the East Indies.

In 1945 there were initially six, later increased to nine, with the Pacific Fleet.

The HMS Slinger was out of combat for 8.5 months after she was damaged by a mine on February 5, 1944.

The U-354 torpedoed the HMS Nabob and was so damaged that it wasn't considered repairable.

The U-482 torpedoed the HMS Thane and wasn't considered to be repairable.
