Design

Drive Train

There was a sliding pinion gearbox that sent the power to a cross shaft that went to a drive sprocket.

Suspension

Suspension was same as PzKpfw I, with the wheels linked by a girder on a leaf spring and the front wheel on a coil spring.

Variants

  • la/LaS 100; 1/La S 100; Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf a1: It's nose plate was very rounded.
  • 2/La S 100; Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf a2: Had minor modifications to the engine compartment and cooling systems.
  • 3/La S 100; Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf a3: Had modifications to the cooling and suspension.
  • 2/LaS 100; Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf b: Had angular (not rounded) nose. Suspension was same as PzKpfw I, with the wheels linked by a girder on a leaf spring and the front wheel on a coil spring. Had new wider tracks and reduction gears.
  • 3/LaS 100;Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf c: Had new suspension with five large road wheels that were hung from quarter elliptic springs. The five road wheels were independently sprung on leaf springs. Improvements to turret. Front plate went straight across front.
